A weekly subscription service for Warhammer 40,000 models, hobby tips, and more? Only if you’re in the UK. Meet Warhammer Imperium.

When are we going to get a program like this state-side?! Sorry, it needed to be asked up front. Before we go any further, let’s talk about what Warhammer 40,000: Imperium is and why it sounds pretty great.

“This series has everything you need to get started, including an awesome variety of models, paints, and tools in each issue, and tutorials designed for newcomers to the hobby. It’s the perfect way to start or expand your collection.”

This is another Games Workshop subscription service where you get a new batch of miniatures every week to work on. These magazines also include hobby and lore bits about the Warhammer Universe and if you keep up your subscription the whole time you’ll end up with a sizable collection.

Personally, I love the idea of slow-grow army. And one delivery a week would be a enough time to finish the previous week’s release (ideally). And while you can get the majority of these models already, there is an exclusive new Primaris Captain that you get for Issue 5:

I’m a little surprised it’s not a Lieutenant, but I welcome the new model. The magazine’s hobby tips claim to start with some of the fundementals and build-up your technique toolbox until you’re ready to tackle some harder challenges with your models, too:

Furthermore, this delivery service also has character profiles and step-by-step gameplay scenarios included as well.

And lore. Don’t forget about that either:

This really does seem like a neat option for growing you collection and a good starting point for a complete novice. Here’s a video for a bit more details:

Only Available In The UK?

So here’s the rub…it’s only available in the UK – for now. You can head to the website for more info (you may have to click on the ‘swap to UK version’ button). Once you do, you’ll see the pricing info and more.

I’m not going to pretend this isn’t a bummer for non-UK fans. This is the third collection of this type from Games Workshop as they have done a 40k and AoS service like this previously – again, only in the UK. But all hope is not lost – if you are in the US, there is some good news for 2022:

“The collection will be launching early 2022!”

Well now…that’s at least one bright spot for the fans stateside. You can register and get notified when it does go live (hopefully) in 2022. So now we just have to be patient.

I like the idea of a slow-grow army plan. Guess I’ll have to wait until 2022 to give this option a go.
