Warhammer 40K: The Unbeatable List – Orlando Open (GW’s 1st GT)
Goatboy here to look at the list that went all the way at Games Workshop’s first new GT – The Orlando Open!
Today we are looking at the Best General’s list – the 8-0 machine piloted by the one and only Richard Siegler from Art of War. He defeated a few of his teammates to take the overall and did it with the current bad boys on the block – The Adeptus Mechanicus. He even went and played the new Army of Renown with the Skitarii Veteran Cohort.
His list is a bit unconventional with a host of infiltrating models to help push opponents away, control sections of the board, and just smash stuff as needed.

How It Works
The list has a ton of movement tricks and options to play within in 9th edition – with an extremely durable scoring platform. I really like the use of the Infiltrators as a way to get around the table and set up just uncomfortable decisions for the opponent. If they go to hard into taking the traps they get counterpunched to oblivion. He obviously only needs one large blob of Rangers to buff up and a ton of smaller units to use and abuse the upgrade from the Army of Renown.
Mixed in with a very rough deep striking Pteraxii flamer unit that can come down, do something interesting, and then pop away to come down later in the game. This list pushes the idea of patience as he can easily build up a lead and keep it as he has so much available to him to do damage.
Congrats to Richard and his teammates for bringing different lists and doing well with multiple different strategies. It would be one thing if everyone brought the same broken list but each player brought something unique to them and played with utmost efficiency to reach the top 4 at the end of the day.
Big props to GW for running a nice event as everyone I talked to had a good time. It makes me excited to play the Austin event.
