Nathan Fillion’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ Character May Still Be Alive
The next big questions: when and where will we be seeing more of TDK?
This article contains spoilers for The Suicide Squad! So if you don’t know who died, stop what you’re doing and go watch the bloodbath.
When The Suicide Squad premiered in theaters, every jaw in the theater hit the floor within the first 20 minutes of action. James Waller quickly proved just how cold-hearted Amanda Waller can be when she allowed a lineup of D-list rogues to be massacred on a beach in Corto Maltese.
As the movie drew to a close, the audience saw Sean Gunn’s bug-eyed character Weasel stand up and start moving around. But is the furry oddball the only survivor?
This week, during an online watch party for the film, James Gunn himself took to Twitter to point out that Waller’s life signal comm shows TDK is still alive. Nathan Fillion seemingly confirmed that by remarking that he noticed it loudly in the theater.
I noticed that very loudly when I saw this in the theater. Apologies again, for the disturbance. #TSSWatchParty https://t.co/NcpmMGKIVe

Who is TDK?
The Detachable Kid character pays homage to the character Arm-Falloff-Boy. His powers are exactly what his name suggests: he can remove his arms from his body and smack bad guys around. The power is silly and, as seen in the open sequence, not exceptionally useful. Due to this, he’s rejected by the Legion of Superheroes.
Nathan Fillion, who is a longtime friend of James Gunn, is clearly game to expand on the character. His comedy accolades are sprinkled all throughout geeky projects spanning over a decade, from the fan-favorite series Firefly as Captain of the Serenity to voice acting to Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog. He even made a cameo in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Fillion’s humor and charm will always keep him near and dear to the heart of popular culture.
Gunn’s tweet has us all thinking back to the carnage left on the beach, where TDK was left a big, bloody, armless mess… but we didn’t actually see a dead body. With Gunn’s upcoming Peacemaker series in production, Nathan Fillion’s take on the comedic character would fit into the story like an arm in a socket! Are you down for more TDK?
