Warhammer: 3 Warbands We Want To See In Underworlds

Warhammer Underworlds has a LOT of Warbands now – so here are a few more we’d like to see get added to the game.

With the announcement of a new season on the way and the fact that the Kruleboyz are about to get a warband, we decided to take a quick look at the rosters of warband to see who’s missing. There weren’t many factions that weren’t represented in some form. But there were a few. These are the warbands we’d like to see get added in the next season of Warhammer Underworlds.

Chaos Daemons

Seriously, how are these not a thing already?! I mean, Underworlds sort of implies “After-life” and that may be why we’re seeing mortal followers of chaos involved instead of Daemons. That said…why not? Now that the conflict has spilled out of Shadespire and gone on all the way to Direchasm why wouldn’t they get involved? This should be an easy fix with the addition of a Chaos Daemon Warband, but realistically, this could be 4 additional warbands – one for each chaos god.

Cities of Sigmar

Look, I know that this army is sort of a catch-all for a lot of the orphaned Old World armies. It’s also the home for a lot of older models that are in desperate need of updates. A lot of the old Empire Models, High/Wood/Dark Elves, and Dwarves are still in use (and are probably of legal drinking age in the US by now). If GW doesn’t want to update those kits by now, at least throw those players a bone or two by introducing some Warbands from the Cities of Sigmar.

There are LOTS of sub-factions to mine here for Warhammer Underworlds as well. Imagine a warband of Phoenix Guard. Or Greatswords. Or Flagellants. Or Black Ark Corsairs. Or…fill in the blank. You get the idea. Give your designers and artists a chance to update those styles with some “test” models by introducing new warbands. It’s a win-win for everyone!

Mega-Gargants

Okay, okay – hear me out! I know these models are TOO big to fit in the “arena combat game” of Underworlds. A “warband” would consist of ONE of them (and it would probably just be a gargant). So maybe this isn’t the game for them. BUT…what if it was? Here’s what I’m proposing: An AI Boss Fight. It would be a “X” vs 1 fight as different warbands get together to attack a gargant (or Mega-gargant). You’d need at least 4 boards for one to fit anyhow…why not make it a multiplayer fight.

This Mega-gargant fight would require a lot of special rules. But if GW can create one off-shoot for the game (looking at you Arena Mortis) why can’t they do another one for the Sons of Behemat? We’re talking special AoE attacks, massive wound counts, and different scoring mechanics. I think this would also require its own deck as well. One Giant that scales to the number of enemy warbands attacking their lair  sounds pretty epic to me! Or go in solo to see how many wounds you can score before your warband gets wrecked in solo play. And maybe just allow folks to use the existing Mega-gargant kit as well. This could be a simple download or a completely new boxed game. Do it GW, it would be awesome!

Depending on how you slice up those warbands, that’s actually way more that 3 – but who would you like to see get added to Warhammer Underworlds?
