A new gameplay reveal trailer showcases a little of what we can expect from the upcoming Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters game.

Today is a good day if you like tactical turn-based, squad-based combat. Which is a mouthful, sure. But there’s one thing you can’t get away from, whether they’re turn- or squad- at the end of the day these kinds games are based. And a new Gameplay Reveal Trailer for 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters (which is a lot of subtitles) shows off a delicious, X-COM-esque menu of turn-based tactical treats. Take a look.

Lead humanity’s greatest weapon, the Grey Knights, in this fast-paced turn-based tactical RPG: Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. Root out and purge a galaxy-spanning plague across multiple worlds, using the tactics and talents of your own personalised squad of Daemonhunters.

Daemonhunters, announced earlier this summer, promises all the best parts of a good X-COMlike. You’ll assemble your own personal squad of Grey Knights that you can customize and level up with different psychic abilities and weapons. That alone is enough to have me salivating to play–I’m an absolute sucker for a customizable squad with interesting tech trees and level ups.

But then layer on top of that a story by the one and only ADB and add base-building and a growing plague, and you’ve got a recipe for successipe. Check it out below.

Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters

Lead humanity’s greatest weapon, the Grey Knights, against the corrupting forces of Chaos in this brutal and fast-paced turn-based tactical RPG. Root out and put a stop to an insidious plot to infect the galaxy with The Bloom, an intergalactic cosmic plague capable of rotting worlds into oblivion.

Armoured in faith, shielded by devotion, the Grey Knights’ very existence is rooted in mystery, enforced with mind-wipes and executions. Experience life in the 41st millennium and follow the journey of these elite warriors in a narrative penned by acclaimed Black Library author, Aaron Dembski-Bowden.

Daemonhunters is due out in 2022
