Age of Sigmar: 3 Master Generals of the Realms
An army is only as good as the warrior that leads it.
Bastian Carthalos, the biggest boss of the Sigmarite war machine, is officially tromping his massive boots through the Realms, and there’s a reason he’s the Lord-Commander. However, powerful as Cathalos is, he’s far from the only exceptional general of the Mortal Realms, and several of them have been around a lot longer. Whether they are a tactical genius, an unmatched warrior or spellcaster, or just an unstoppable force of destruction, these warlords have led their respective factions to victory time and time again. Here are three of the best generals in the Mortal Realms, and what I think makes them so incredible.
Gordrakk
The most ruthless and kunnin’ Megaboss to ever grace the Realms, Gordrakk was the unquestioned leader of the Destruction faction until Kragnos was freed, and even now, he holds a position of power under him. With his enchanted choppas, brilliant tactical mind (for an Orruk), and his trusty murder cabbage Bigteef, he has ground the other factions beneath his pig-iron boots on several occasions, and his Ironsunz are without a doubt the most prolific and dangerous Ironjawz warband around. He’s not called the Fist of Gork for nothing, after all.
Katakros
The bone daddy of the Ossiarch Bonereapers, Katakros is a powerful warrior, brilliant strategist, and shrewd negotiator all wrapped into one. He is Nagash’s favored general and easily his most dangerous servant, even without spellcasting. He was the first to retake an arm of the Eightpoints back from Archaon successfully, and even when Archaon destroyed him in battle, he transferred his consciousness into a new body with all of the experience of the fight. His already incredible military genius combined with the study of years and the ability to return from death makes him one of the most dangerous individuals in the Realms, and wherever he steps, death follows.
Archaon
When talking about the best generals of the Mortal Realms, it would be a disservice not to include the world-breaker himself, Archaon the Everchosen. The undisputed leader of the Chaos faction, he was responsible for shattering the World that Was and was able to successfully siege and conquer the Allpoints from Sigmar, turning into the Chaos warped Realm of the Eightpoints. The only realm that hasn’t felt his touch is Sigmar’s own Azyr, but there are rumblings that he has awoken an ancient ally to help him shatter the defenses of his hated foe and assault him on his own ground. Only time will tell how successful he will be, but looking at his past success…I’d say Sigmar should invest in more robust locks.
