So what can these warbands do on the tabletop? Let’s take a closer look and find out!
Da Kunnin’ Krew
This warband clocks in as 2 Warscolls over two units that must be taken together for 170 points. They fill a Leader slot also – but just 1.
Mannok Da Kunnin’ is no slouch. With an unpredictable ranged attack and a more reliable close combat attack, he’s not exactly a combat monster. But he’s got some nice support tricks that just might surprise folks.
First up, Kunnin’ Tricks allows you to activate a second dirty trick on a 5+ (or on a 4+ if this unit is the general thanks to the bonus). That by itself can be super handy! I don’t know if making him your general is worth it…but having him around seems beneficial. He also triggers his Venom-encrusted Weapons battle trait on a 5+ which makes those other attacks more deadly. And finally, when paired with this buddies below he also has some ablative wounds they can take.
Da Kunnin’ Krew itself is a hodgepodge of models and attacks. Tokra Tuffskul has an extra wound and the unit can straight-up whack a model at the end of a combat phase if they roll high enough. They also don’t take battleshock tests if Krookgrin is around. This unit is goofy but don’t underestimate it. They are perfectly fine bodyguards for Mannok.
Xandire’s Truthseekers
3 models that combine to form a unit for 265 points, Xandire’s Truthseekers are a tad pricey. Then again it’s in the Stormcast Army and they don’t have a ton of “cheap” options anyhow.
Another hodgepodge of attacks and stats — they do hit pretty hard. The Stormcaller Bow can convert attacks into Mortal Wounds on 6s to hit. The Kinetic Loadstone zaps an enemy unit that charged this one for some Mortal Wounds. And what really makes this unit spicy is the Lantern Astrala which allows you to target an enemy unit with 9″ and friendly Stormcast Eternals get to add 1 to hit. Conveniently, this triggers at the end of the charge phase so you should be able to pile on this hits.
If you’ve got the box coming your way it’s a free set of warscrolls to use in your larger AoS games. So why not give them a try on the tabletop?
