Anime: ‘Lupin The Third’ Celebrates Fifty Years with Art Book & RPG
To celebrate the anniversary of Lupin the Third we’re jumping into the world of Lupin with a gorgeous 200+ page art book and an RPG!
Lupin The 3rd is a timeless and critically acclaimed series by Monkey Punch about the goofy, eponymous thief and his friends. The series celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year.
Since the first manga was published in 1967, Lupin has encompassed hundreds of animated episodes, multiple feature films, and specials. It’s a classic anime that you can’t help but love thanks to its wacky antics and characters. And to celebrate 50 years of Lupin, Magnetic Press is joining forces with TMS Entertainment to make the animated thief’s fifty years of heists and adventures a little extra special.

Lupin’s New Coffee Table Book
Today saw the launch of a Kickstarter to back and pre-order 50 Animated Years of Lupin The 3rd. It’s a stunning coffee table book featuring production artwork, imagery, and insights into nearly every piece of Lupin the 3rd produced over the past half a decade. 50 Animated Year of Lupin The 3rd will chronicle the evolution from Monkey Punch’s original drawings through the newest animated series and most recent CG feature film.
The book will be available in two editions. One is a standard 200+ hardcover version and a limited deluxe edition with a slipcase. Contributors to the Kickstarter campaign can earn stretch goals of up to 96 extra pages of content. This includes original production artwork, design sketches, and storyboards.

The Lupin RPG
In addition to the anniversary art book, Magnetic Press Play, Magnetic Press’s games division, will also be publishing a tabletop RPG based on the world and adventures of Lupin the 3rd. The game will utilize a variation on Magnetic Press’s D6 system which RPG enthusiasts may remember from West End Games’ Star Wars and Ghostbusters titles.
The game will allow players to engage in the same over-the-top antics and harebrained heists of their favorite character. Unfortunately, no more information is known at the Lupin the 3rd tabletop roleplaying game, but more details are promised to be released at a later date.
