Superstar actor Chris Evans lends his voice to Disney and Pixar’s new tribute to science fiction in the Lightyear teaser trailer.

Today in ‘What’s Wholesome’ news, actor Christ Evans took to Twitter to share the new Lightyear teaser trailer. The Disney & Pixar animated feature will feature the in-universe ‘real-life’ astronaut on which the Buzz Lightyear toy was based.

Check out the Lightyear Teaser Trailer:

On its initial release, many fans were a little confused. Evans himself tweeted to let fans know exactly whose story he would be helping to tell:

The Birth of the ‘Real’ Buzz Lightyear

In an interview with Fandango, director Angus MacLane discussed the inspiration behind the story. Angus, who co-directed the Pixar hit Finding Dory, wanted to answer the question “What was the movie that Andy saw when we made Toy Story? Why don’t we just make that movie?”

“I’d always been attached to Buzz since I started at the studio. I always really like animating that character. And as a huge sci-fi movie buff, I’d always wondered what is the sci-fi action-adventure version of Buzz Lightyear that would be fun and be appropriate for the character, but also be brought into three dimensions, character-wise? A straightforward sci-fi action-adventure movie that was what we all liked as kids, and still like.” –Angus MacLane

The film is clearly aimed at those of us who enjoyed Toy Story in our formative years, but with a mind for a new generation, too. And adult Disney fans are over the moon. So when Chris Evans expressed some feels on Twitter, the whole internet could relate.

And of course, the wholesomeness of the trailer has rolled itself into some pretty lovely fan-sourced content. Between his posts and the Lightyear teaser trailer, today was a really good day for Chris Evans stans.

‘Lightyear’ will be released exclusively in theaters on June 17, 2022.
