Warhammer 40K: A Primaris Lt. Visits Canada’s Fortifications
Let’s follow some 40K minis around Old Terra’s Canada, with your humble scribe as a guide, and fortifications our destination.
In the hectic days of the Indomitus Crusade the safety of Holy Terra was utmost in Guilliman’s mind. To insure it’s safety he dispatched troops to inspect the fortifications. One such enovy was Primaris LT. Antonius aided by the trusty Guardsman Privit. Upon arriving on Terra however, they found that due to a Warp Rift they’d be transported to the distant past of the world. Still, orders are orders, and they set out to make sure the defenses were in good shape.
For the last two weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of traveling (at last!) around Canada and New York seeing various forts and other sites. Of course, I wasn’t alone. I had some good friends both humans and miniatures along for the ride and we took some pictures. As is my tradition, I also took along some minis to view the trip and photograph. I figured the most fitting model to take on my travels was a ubiquitous Primaris Lt., the model soon to make up 100% of GW’s line up. Along with him, and returing from other trips is Guardsman Privit. Here are a few of the highlights my little friends saw along the way.
The two made a first stop at Fort. George on the Niagra Peninsula. The wooden walls didn’t look like much, and Privit was more interested in the local wine, so it was a short stop.
The next stop was Fort Henry in Kingston, a most impressive work.
The two took a cautions approach to the fort, guide by the flag of an Empire that seemed… oddly familure.
Guardsman Privit found the walls in good shape, hadn’t he heard that the Praetorians traced their ancestry to somewhere in the area?
Quite impressive guns also.
Moving north the pair found a place called Montreal. There they saw a basilica that would not have been out of place in their own time.
Sadly the cities walls hadn’t been well kept up.
LT. Antonius did get some good views of the city however.
The high ground of Mont Royal provided a good vantage point.
The city did offer some good miniatures, if only a battle could be fought here!
In Quebec Antonius tested the wall guns.
Both found the walls in good repair.
Privit felt a strange kinship with this statue of a solder of an old Empire. As if… as if they shared some common ancestry.
He also inspected the walls of the Citadel.
From any angle it seemed an impressive fort.
Antonius also noted that the fort had a commanding view over the river.
On the Plains Of Abraham Privit found what he could have sworn were Death Krops weapons, but it said they were from some Great War. Either way they were impressive!
That night they dined on grilled Tyranids.
As they headed south Lt. Antonius began seeing signs for his home of Ultramar. Could it be, could the 500 Worlds be so close? Raged filled him when realized that the proud name was used for some sort of… promethium fueling place? Could this be… the real root of his home’s name? What shame!
A final stop brought to the two to the mighty Fort Ticonderoga.
Here they saw some quite old models.
Privit, a true Guardsmen, enjoy the view of the great guns.
Indeed the fort had more than enough cannons for both of them! With this last fort inspected the universe took pity on the two and a warp portal opened allowing them to return home safely…. or so they hoped.
Where should our Primaris Lt. tour next?
