Warhammer 40K: More Black Templar Rules – Get Ready For War
Games Workshop has shown off a ton of new rules for the Black Templars. Let’s get in there and take a good look at what’s to come.
The Black Templar’s army box is going up for Pre-Order this weekend and it will be your first chance to get a copy of the rules and miniatures – guaranteed. But maybe you need a bit more convincing that the Black Templars are going to be worth putting together an army for. That’s okay – GW has some more info for you.
First up we get a look at a new relic: The Crusader’s Helm.
Extended range on your Auras? Check! Assault Doctrine bonus? Check! The Black Templars army is going to want to get in your face and this relic will help ensure they are able to swing a lot harder than your opponent might expect.
How about another relic? This is one that you’ll be able to use thanks to the Relic Bearer rules that we saw earlier this week:
Pick a unit at the start of the game and the unit with Sigismund’s Seal gets to re-roll both to hit and to wound vs that unit for the entire game!
New Litanies
The Black Templars are getting six new litanies. Today, we’re getting a look at a pair of them:
More Vows
This marks the third vow that GW has teased for the Black Templars. Unmodified 6s to hit automatically wound vs non-Vehicle units. That could be pretty nice to have with all the bonuses to attacks. Skipping the to-wound roll just means more damage is going to stick.
The downside is you’re going to have to declare a lot of charges. Some of which you might not want to make – but your Vow won’t let you opt out. That’s quite the trade-off and you’ll have to decide if that’s really worth it to you.
Stratagems
We get a look at a few stratagems as well. Wisdom of the Ancients has been around a while but here it is:
That’s a good option for that Redemptor Dreadnought that’s included in the BT army box if you were wondering what to do with it!
Here’s a Stratagem that is Black Templar specific – Devout Push. This allows you to shift an additional 3″ to get closer to an enemy unit and if you just happen to land in Engagement Range, you get a pile-in move and can now be chosen to fight. Surprise!
Pre-Orders go live this weekend – are you ready for the Black Templars to come charging headlong at you?
