Warhammer 40K: New Ground Assets Would Look Great In A Bigger Scale
Forge World has some new Ground Assets available for Aeronautic Imperialis. They would look even better upscaled to 40k sizes.
Aeronautic Imperialis is getting some new Ground Assets for use from Forge World. They look neat and are thematically appropriate for the game. They help to add that extra style to your games and also have rules you can use, too. This weekend, we’re seeing pre-orders for the Adeptus Astartes and Aeldari ground assets:
That’s great – but I think they’d be even better in a larger scale and for use in 40k! Games Workshop has started to branch out into more terrain kits for non-Imperial factions and that’s been a cool move. We even started to see hints that maybe some new fortifications were on the way when we got the newer Hammerfall Bunker.
And the new Bastion even looks like a larger, more well fortified Hammerfall bunker instead of an Imperial Bastion:
The turret portions of the Skyspear and Icarus Stormcannon array look like they are just from the Hunter/Stalker kits, too:
Just take those weapons, double them up, and have a fancy base for the new turret.
I even like the design of the Aeldari Webway Portal over the existing one. Having the third arch and base make the ground asset seem more stable and more imposing that the existing 40k one:
You could make the case that the Night Spinner and Pulse Lance Platforms are really just the Falcon kits…but they are clearly different and more fortification like:
Still, it’s a I do wonder why GW decided to redo the Webway Portal – perhaps it was for a stability issue at that scale. It could have also been just for pure visibility too as the two prongs from the 40k scale one may not have looked very visually appealing in the smaller scale. But that’s kind of my point – if these tiny models look good, just imagine how much more detail they’d have at a larger scale!
Will we ever see these fortifications move over to 40k? The odds seem unlikely. But not impossible. Now that GW has their designs completed they could recreate them at the larger scale. I don’t know how easy or challenging that could be but the blueprints are basically done and, if they are digital sculpts, I can’t imagine that it would be too terribly difficult.
They cranked out both scales for the Warbringer Titan…just sayin’
My mind is still blown that GW also hasn’t made Aeronautic models compatible with Adeptus Titanicus. I know those are two separate games and from two different eras in the game but…c’mon. These ground assets make for great additions to not only Aeronautica boards but also Titanicus games, too. It really does seem like a no-brainer to create rules for both systems and double-dip on these models.
Oh well – for now, we’ll just have to keep dreaming and leave the up-scaling of these models to those crazy awesome hobbyists out there. At least if you’ve got the bits you could probably build your own versions!
Would you like to see these Aeronautica models up-scaled to 40k sizes?
