D&D: Last Week to Back ‘Skyraiders Of Abarax’ Kickstarter
Tracy & Laura Hickman’s Skyraider of Abrax Kickstarter campaign is pulling into its final week with new stretch goals in sight.
Kickstarter’s Skyraiders of Abarax is a sky-ship and sorcery-fueled D&D setting from Dragonlance co-creators Tracy and Laura Hickman. This week, it’s pulling into its final week of crowdfunding. The last week looks like it’ll be the biggest for the 5E setting.
This new setting sees players take on the role of escapees from a magical penal colony centuries after the empire that exiled their ancestors has come and gone. Skyraiders of Abarax promises magic, mystery, and air-piracy.
It also includes a new Living Tome System, a specialized app that is connected to lore, quests, and other images in the books. The app can help bring certain descriptions to life– and thanks to a recent stretch goal unlock, users can manage whole sections of the game with it.
The Living Tome app will allow players to engage in co-op based airship piloting, for instance. But that’s not the only stretch goal the campaign has unlocked.
Raising 353,878 at press time, Skyraiders of Abarax will get a new cover with art from legendary fantasy artist Larry Elmore. It will also feature STL files for special Skyraiders miniatures that will be released as part of the Kickstarter.
From the Skyraiders of Abarax Kickstarter Campaign:
Venture forth in a 5E-compatible adventure world from bestselling authors Tracy and Laura Hickman. This new world introduces new lands with their own stories and peoples to discover, all built around a magical book that comes to life via the Living Tome mobile app. With two complete manuals packed with original artwork, lore, and enhancements to the core 5E rule set plus a free digital app that integrates the book using AR technologies, Skyraiders of Abarax provides a grand skyfaring adventure filled with hope and wonder.
There are two hard-bound volumes.
The Skyraider’s Handbook is the player’s guide to the new world. Inside are new character creation rules, including new classes, magic items, abilities, and more.
Then there’s the Skymaster’s Almanac, which is the GM’s guide. It leads you through constructing adventures in the new world created by the Hickmans.
Finally, the new Living Tome system promises to help bring your campaign to life– for certain definitions of “to life.”
