D&D: Wildemount Player Options Feature In Campaign 3 Mysteries
The Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount features prominently in Critical Role’s campaign 3, and it helps to solve some of its mysteries. See how.
Critical Role’s 3rd Campaign is already proving to be a delight for fans, garnering millions of views over a few short weeks. And a big part of it are some of the mysterious new player options we’re seeing in the new party members. But now, three episodes in, answers are starting to trickle in, and it seems the Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount makes a prominent appearance. Be warned, if you’re not caught up, spoilers for Campaign 3 lie ahead–but read on to see the answer to some of Campaign 3’s party questions.
Laudna
Laudna is a cheery, gothy, undead of some kind who wields creepy powers that stand in stark contrast to her sunny disposition. And people have been wondering what exactly she is since her appearance in Episode 1. Now, it seems, we have some answers–and they can be found inside the Wildemount book. Check out the entry for Hollow One, which is an undead race that’s also considered about on par with receiving a “Supernatural Gift.”
We got to see Laudna use the Unsettling Presence recently as she unhinged her jaw to intimidate and unsettle creatures she was fighting. We also learned that Laudna is a Warlock who follows an Undead patron when she used the signature “Form of Dread” ability.
Fresh Cut Grass
In a recent interview, Sam Riegel spilled a few secrets about the special subclass his Automata Cleric, known as Fresh Cut Grass, is playing.
Matt helped me develop a unique subclass for Fresh Cut Grass called the Empathy Domain. I asked him if my healer could be a therapist, and Matt being Matt – he was happy to oblige. Not sure if it’ll appear in any books, but I do know there’s a few more class features that should come out the longer we play. Stay tuned.
So far, the new party is shaping up to be full of Empathy, Chaos, and Undead. Which sounds about right.
Happy Adventuring!
