The One of Us crew reviews the latest in the beloved Ghostbusters franchise.

The IP that will keep trying until it gets it right, takes on the next generation of ghostbusters, with the next generation of filmmakers, as Jason Reitman (son of the original director) steps into the chair to direct this nostalgic third film (the last one was a reboot) in the series.

The daughter of Egon Spengler (Carrie Coon) because of crushing debt is forced to move into the house her deadbeat of a dad left her, a crumbling and sizable farmhouse in the middle of nowhere. She and her two very different from each other children (Phoebe and Trevor played by Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard respectively) are less than pleased with their situation.

When the kids while poking around their grandfather’s things discover he was Egon Spengler, one of the Ghostbusters, and the house is still filled with all the GB ephemera, and possibly what remains of the consciousness of Egon himself, suddenly the middle of nowhere gets a lot more interesting. And, of course, dangerous, as old adversaries poke their heads out for another shot at the apocalypse.

With some delightful co-stars, like Paul Rudd as a local teacher/seismologist/love interest for Mom we found that there was a lot to like about this new entry, and that despite all the callbacks to the original film, feels very different to it in tone. Listen to Chris, Marco, and Spider-Mike break down the good and the ‘meh’ in “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”.
