We’ve seen the Force in movies, but there’s so much more to it. Check out our favorite Star Wars Force powers that deserve the big screen.

It’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ a new Star Wars film will hit theaters. But compared to the shows, novels, comic books, and video games, we’ve only seen a fraction of what the Force can do. These Star Wars Force powers deserve nothing less than the full film treatment.

Animal Friendship

Jedi have a lot of powers that involve mentally connecting with other creatures. Of course they can do mind tricks and melds, but what about connecting with animals?

Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels is particularly skilled at bonding with animals–  sometimes he forms friendships with them or can ask them for strategic help. Most Jedi can do this to some degree, but Ezra seems to have a special skill bonding with animals.

Force Refresh

Force Refresh has appeared in the Jedi: Fallen Order video game used by Cal Kestis and then again in Justina Ireland’s novel, A Test of Courage. It allows Jedi to use meditation to heal wounds and refresh their energy.

As a video game mechanic, it’s the perfect way to give your character a chance to recoup after a battle and maybe give the player an opportunity to save. But within the galactic canon, it feels a lot like a short rest in Dungeons & Dragons.

According to Justina Ireland, not every Jedi is skilled in Force Refresh. And some environments will make achieving refresh much more difficult.

Sky-Walking

If you’ve been keeping up with the new Thawn novels, you may recognize this power from Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn: Alliances. I like to think of as ‘Force astrogation‘ (not because it’s a less cheesy name or anything, why would you think that?)

Sky-Walking allows a Force-user to navigate the dangers of space– especially the unknown region– using this Star Wars Force power. Most ships use droids to make sure they don’t run into anything, but the Chiss use force sensitive children… because adults lose the ability.

Jedi Meld

Another ability to show up in the books, Jedi Melds were powers from Legends that came back into the canon with Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi. Melds allow a group of Jedi’s to combine their powers in order to accomplish tasks that no one Jedi would be able to do on their own.

Soule describes it as a “great symphony of dissonance and assonance.” It’s one of those over-powered abilities with pretty loose rules in an ‘anime protagonist in the last episode of the season’ sort of way. But if we’re being honest, a lot of Star Wars Force powers are.

Nightsister Zombies

Yeah, okay, the Nightsisters haven’t appeared in any movies yet. But when get a Nightsister appearance in a movie, I can almost guarantee we’ll see some zombies.

Based on how they’ve appeared Clone Wars and Jedi: Fallen Order, their brand of Force use is a little different than anyone else in the Galaxy. It includes rituals, magic, alchemy, and of course raising an army of the dead to fight alongside them.

What’s your favorite Star Wars Force power that you want to see on the big screen? Do you have a favorite power from Legends that hasn’t made the jump back into canon yet? Which Force power would you most want to master? Let us know in the comments!
