Is the next featured film from the galaxy far, far away an Old Republic movie? Well, these characters deserve the big-screen treatment.

Sadly, Rogue Squadron may be on the back burner for the foreseeable future. But rumor has it that there’s another movie in the works at Lucasfilm. We’re not completely convinced that it will be the next Star Wars movie in theaters. But if it were on the horizon, we think these Old Republic characters would all be very fun to see on the big screen.

Revan

This Jedi-turned-Sith is one of those characters that people with a more-than-passing interest in Star Wars may have heard of. Even fans with no interest in Old Republic have probably heard the name Revan.

Introduced in the still-popular Knights of the Old Republic video game, Revan broke away from the Jedi Order to form a Sith Empire and wage war against the Galactic Republic. There’s always a war at the center of Star Wars movies. Revan could be at the center of the next feature-length galactic war.

HK-47

For whatever reason we, as a fandom, really seem to enjoy the droids with bad attitude or murdery tendencies. So assassin droid and Jedi hunter HK-47’s popularity among Old Republic fans isn’t too surprising.

HK survived four millennia on Mustafar, and he’s  got thousands of years of history to pull from that could help bridge time gaps. The droid is loyal to Revan, so it’s likely we’ll see one if the other appears.

Bastilla Shan

Born to treasure hunters and raised by the Jedi Order, Bastila is an interesting Jedi with one of my favorite lightsabers. She has a rocky relationship with the Light Side after briefly joining the Sith.

She’s especially skilled at Battle Meditation, which would admittedly probably be more fun in-game than on-screen. Plus, if you’re looking for a romantic sub-plot, Bastila has a pretty good one!

Nico Okarr

One of the most interesting parts of Star Wars in my opinion is what’s going on with the not-Jedi characters.

Nico is a smuggler and mercenary known for taking the highest risk jobs the underworld had to offer. He fills the same story dynamic as Han Solo, but it works well when paired with a galaxy of space wizards.

An artifact made him effectively ageless, and that may be hard to fit in to the new canon. But it does mean that he potentially has a very long history to pull from.

Jolee Bindo

Jolee is a Jedi known more for taking care of people and solving problems than following the rules. Unfortunately, this backfired. Jolee followed his heart– right into a marriage that ended with his wife turning to the Dark Side. And she took few other Jedi down along the way.

He’s one of those characters that make people reference ‘gray’ Jedis, which could be fascinating on the big screen. But really I think he’s just doing his best to see the good in everyone.

Which characters would you like to see in an Old Republic movie? What era do you think they should make a feature film for next? Do you prefer stories about Jedis or not-Force-Users? Let us know in the comments!
