Total War: Warhammer 3 – Ogre Kingdoms Revealed
Are you hungry for more Total War: Warhammer 3 reveals? Well so are the Ogre Kingdoms, unveiled at last.
The Ogre Kingdoms reveal has been a long time coming, but at last they’re here. The Ogre Kings have been a long speculated “open secret” but even the best guesses on the dankest internet forums couldn’t possibly have prepared you for the ogre kingdoms reveling in all their glory. And what a revel it is, there’s a song and everything!
Let’s all take a moment of silence for the poor skink served up on a silver platter, but, wow. The Ogres look as big and brutish and burly as you could possibly hope. And, what’s more, we also get a look at their campaign mechanics, so if you’re hungry for how Total War: Warhammer 3 is shaping up, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s check it out!
First things first, Camps. These are where Ogres gather around a central food source and are what passes for Ogre “civilization.” Camps are limited by technology, and you’ll have to build up a horde to have access to more camps, including the ability to deploy camps in enemy territory far from your own lands. But beyond that, you’ll be able to keep up the Ogre’s role as mercenaries–after all that’s how they got their start. And you can engage in mercenary contracts given to you by the different AI factions around you.
Every ten turns you’ll be given a choice of contracts that might be attacking cities, killing characters, or destroying armies, and those are how you’ll build both money and diplomatic relationships with different factions.
Of course, all that work makes an empty stomach. Eating is important to Ogres, as vital as gold. Your units will have upkeep in gold and Meat–so you’ll want to make sure the meat flows. Fortunately, defeated enemies are delicious.
But meat isn’t just another status bar you have to track, you can spend eat to feast and give your armies different buffs:
Leading these feasts will be your Ogre Lord. These lords have a unique mechanic, which lets you strive for up to four Big Names, each with different unlock conditions, as seen here:
This is true of both regular lords and Legendary Lords like Greasus Goldtooth and Skrag the Slaughterer.
Finally let’s take a look at the “tech tree” which is mostly theft, better ways to eat more food, or to charge more money, but ends up being surprisingly dense for an Ogre tech tree.
Anyway, all of this awaits you in the Ogre Kingdoms, which are a reward for early adopters of Total War: Warhammer 3.
