Warhammer 40K: New Ork Rules From ‘Critical Mass’ Showcase
Games Workshop is showing off some of the new Ork rules for the Blood Axes and Speed Freeks from War Zone Octarius Book 2: Critical Mass.
Earlier this week we got a look at the contents of the upcoming book for War Zone Octarius. Today we’re getting a closer look at some of the Ork rules you’ll find inside. We’ve got the Blood Axe Codex Supplement and also the Speed Freeks Army of Renown to check out so let’s dive in!
Codex Supplement: Blood Axes
The Blood Axes are unlike other Orks in that they fight very “un-Orky” as they tend to plan out their attacks have a general strategy before going to war. Sneaking up on the enemy to ambush them or to call out enemy positions for more coordinated attacks is common for the Blood Axes.
“Even though they’re inclined to think (a little) before diving headlong into combat, Blood Axes are still Orks and welcome any fancy gubbinz that gets them stuck in quicker. The Mekboyz, for their part, have created a wondrous new device that points Orks directly towards an incoming fight – any resemblances to a Space Marine auspex are purely coincidental.”
The Blood Axes use of scavenged Imperial technology is well documented and now it looks like they are moving beyond just looting weapons and vehicles, too.
Speed Freeks Army of Renown
“The tough centre of any self-respecting Speed Mob is a swarm of Ork Warbikers, who’ve spent so much time in the saddle that they can take and hold ground as well as any foot-slogging Boy – meaning they get the Objective Secured ability.”
That’s not all the Speed Freeks are getting either. Their new Adrenaline Junkies ability might deny them the use of an Ork Clan Kultur but in exchange they get quite a few benefits.
The bonus attack, the better invulnerable save for going faster, and also counting Advances as Normal Moves in the shooting phase make this Army of Renown fast, tough, and deadly! No seriously, they LOVE their speed:
I don’t know if this army is going to be the return of the Nob Bikers of old, but it could be a contender. We’ll have to wait and see what other special rules, relics and traits they get.
You’ll be able to get your hands on the new War Zone Octarius book soon – it’s going up for Pre-orders this weekend from Games Workshop.
The Orks are ready to WAAAGH!!! Are you?
