Warhammer 40K Next Week: Black Templars On Crusade
The boys are back in black and in town next weekend as a new wave of Black Templar minis goes up for pre-order.
Technically they’re not boys, so much as genetically engineered organisms that were once human and now are packed full of designer organisms and then made even biggerer once they get primarisized. But, whatever they are, they’re back, and looking extremely good in black as a new wave of Black Templars is up for pre-order next weekend
We start with the Chapter Leader, High Marshal Helbrecht, who is so dedicated to the tenets of the Black Templars that, even as his sword is still covered in the blood of the unclean, has it being polished and purified in battle.
But you’ll need help getting all of that crusading done, and for that, we have the Hero of Helsreach, aka Grimaldus Hich Chaplain of the Black Templars.
Of course, no Black Templar army would be complete without an Emperor’s Champion, who is chosen by a vision of the Emperor, commading them to conquer the enemy’s strongest fighters in one on one combat. They are very good at swords.
Black Templar Marshals, are a lot like Space Marine Captains. You can tell they’re not lieutenants because they don’t have a helmet.
Castellans, on the other hand, have a helmet, and are a lot like Lieutenants, as they can often be found leading shock assaults.
Primaris Crusader Squads make up the bulk of the Black Templars. They are powerful combatants, accompanied by Neophytes looking to be a little bit less green. These big boys are large and capable of a deadly charge.
Perhaps one of the single most misnamed units of all, the Black Templar Sword Brethren squads can be found wielding many weapons that aren’t, in fact, a sword. Look at the picture, the number of non-swords outweighs the number of swords by a full 50%.
