Goatboy’s Warhammer 40K: Favorite List I Faced – NOLA Open
Goatboy here and this is my favorite list from the NOLA Open I faced. Suffer Not This Armylist to Live!
Ben Cherwien of Advanced Warfare 40k fame played a Black Templar list this weekend that kicked the crap out of me. It was a pretty sweet list that felt very Black Templar-like with a bunch of assault and board control with 3 Redemptor Dreadnoughts. Man, he hit me with so much Plasma when we played. Ben is an excellent player, a pretty swell guy, and I liked his list a lot.
The idea here is you can utilize the two relics on the Bladeguard and Terminators to create a very difficult to kill option that soaks up a lot of damage. From there you can utilize some Apothecary tricks to regrow the difficult-to-deal-with leader that also gives you a nice little push to get into assault a lot earlier. The army is designed to take and hold the center with so much meat and beef. It also plays so well into Grey Knights that it is almost absurd how hard it is for the silver psychic jerks to survive thru the sheer beating that comes when those Templar get into their business.

Meta Considerations
Check it out as it seems to be a sweet list to try out with your Marine armies as it has some play into some of the other big stuff showing up. It looks alright into Thicc City but has more of an issue with the older Dark Eldar with its speed and counter punches. I also expect it might not like a lot of Whirlwind of rage nonsense and getting things to go to AP -3 with rerolling to hit and rerolling to wound.
