Magic the Gathering lives and dies, not by the mechanics on its cards, but by the art that draws you in to the game. To be sure, the mechanics have to be there, but far more people look at Magic: The Gathering cards, and the worlds and creatures they depict, than actually play Magic. So, it’s little wonder that even a glimpse of new Magjc art is enough to spark the imagination.
Today, we get a look at some of the incredible new art from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Let’s dive in.
First of all, this is my favorite piece from today’s reveal. I love these spirit critters,I love everything that’s happening in this card, I just want to live in that world for a bit.
Then there’s whatever is happening here, which terrifies me, but in a fun way. I’m glad my dreams are about to be haunted.
Then there’s a piece that’s a little more cyber and a hair more punk. Lots of spying and scrying, because in the cyberpunk future, information is power.
And so is magic. Here’s a bit of the nature vs. technology conflict that seems to be shaping up in the background. Good to know what Green will be up to in this set.
Also, is that a tree mech? It looks like a tree mech, and that’s all I want right now.
