The No Way Home post-credits scenes set up The Multiverse of Madness. Now Doctor Strange will have to face the consequences of his spell.

No Way Home was a thrilling and joyful ride. But like all Marvel movies, the fun doesn’t end when the credits start rolling. Thanks to this hit film’s post-credits scenes, we’ve got another glimpse into the future of the MCU.

There are spoilers for ‘No Way Home’ and both post-credits scenes in this article. Now you know!

Mid-Credits: The Venom Symbiote Joins the MCU

The first after-movie moment is a direct follow-up to the Venom: Let There Be Carnage post-credits scene, in which Eddie and Venom suddenly appear in another universe. As soon as they do, the two see J. Jonah Jameson outting Peter Parker on TV.

After Home, we catch up with Eddie Brock and Venom, who are hanging out in a bar. Both of our heroes are pretty lit, and the bartender is telling them all about the MCU’s heroes.

Just as these two drunk guys decide it’s time to go and have a chat with Spider-Man, Strange casts his correction spell. Venom and Eddie are zapped back into their own universe– but not without leaving a little drop of Venom symbiote behind on Earth-199999.

Now you may be wondering “How was Venom yoinked into the MCU? He hadn’t even heard of Spider-Man!”

In the sequel to Tom Hardy’s Venom, the symbiote tells Eddie that he has “80 billion years of hive knowledge across universes.” We already know there are lots and lots of Spiders across the multiverse. It makes sense that this bit of hero trivia could make its way into Venom’s hive-mind.

What’s Next for Venom in the MCU?

Who will be affected by the leftover Venom? In several storylines, Peter’s high school frienemy Flash Thompson bonds with the symbiote.

I suspect that this phase of the MCU will be the beginning of Marvel’s passing the torch. Hawkeye looks to be moving in that direction, while Yelena Belova is keeping Natasha’s legacy alive.

Tom Hardy is an incredible Venom, no doubt about it. But a next-gen Venom in the MCU– especially one played by Tony Revolori– would be spectacular.

After all, you can’t do Venom without comedy, and the character is already comedy gold.

The Final Post-Credits Scene: Multiverse of Madness Teaser

The post-credits sequence is less of a scene and more of a teaser trailer. This isn’t the MCU’s usual move, but it’s not unheard of. Captain America: The First Avenger post-credits featured a teaser for The Avengers.

No Way Home wrapped with Doctor Strange erasing Peter Parker from everyone’s memories. But as Wong says, that spell has not come without consequence.

One of those consequences, it seems, will be facing off with Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). As he said at the end of Doctor Strange, “the bill comes due.” And thanks to the first film’s post-credits scene, we can guess that Mordo has already been busy relieving sorcerers of their powers.

In this teaser, Mordo tells Stephen that “the greatest threat in the universe is you.” And before long, we understand just what that means.

A dark version of Strange himself appears. And while we have no confirmation yet, it’s highly likely that this is Strange Supreme from Marvel’s animated series What If..?

Missed the first appearance of Strange Supreme? Check out our ‘What If…?’ episode 4 recap!

Last we saw Strange Supreme, he was hanging out in a pocket dimension standing guard over Ultron, Killmonger, and the Infinity Stones. Did Strange’s spell on Earth-199999 release him from his dimensional prison? And what happens to the Infinity Stones he’s guarding?

More Post-Credits Character Reveals

Fortunately, Strange won’t be the only magical expert fighting to maintain reality. The teaser also shows the sorcerer appealing to Wanda Maximoff for help. She actually assumes that he’s there to punish her for the events in WandaVision.

Interestingly, the hit show also introduced us to a couple of next-generation Marvel heroes. Tommy and Billy Maximoff, the sons Wanda created in Westview, could be brought back into this world as Wanda helps Strange fiddle with the multiverse.

Another series of scenes show Strange fighting alongside Wong and a new character to the MCU. The white star on the back of her jacket means that she’s another next-gen superhero, Miss America Chavez.

Played by actress Xochitl Gomez, America is a dimension-hopping super badass. She’s a reader favorite in Marvel comics, and her multiversal travel makes her a very logical candidate for a role in Multiverse of Madness.

What was your favorite reveal in the No Way Home post-credits scenes? Who do you think will be the next Venom?
