Warhammer 40K: New Primaris Ancient Model Revealed
Games Workshop revealed another new model for the Space Marines. It’s a very fancy banner with a new Primaris Ancient.
It looks a lot like the Adeptus Astartes are getting a new model in 2022 – probably one of many if we had to guess. It’s a brand new Primaris Ancient packing a Power Sword for folks who want to get up close and personal.
“Well, if the heretics you’re fighting stubbornly refuse to act as boltgun fodder like they’re supposed to, it certainly helps to have a deadly melee weapon to hand. If you’d prefer your Ancient to take a more hands-on approach to defending the sacred standard they bear, stoically cutting down anyone who dares to besmirch the banner’s sanctity with their foul presence, you’re in luck.”
That certainly is quite the banner! I do wonder how much of that is freehand vs molded on the model. It’s a great paint job and that certainly sells the model — but it would be nice to know how easy it is to paint him up for other chapters.
Anyhow, having a Primaris Ancient with that Power Sword option isn’t too shabby! Why? Well GW breaks it down pretty simply:
“Considering that he’s packing 4 Attacks as standard, an Ancient is tasty in melee even without a power sword. However, with AP -3 and extra pip of Strength, a sword-wielding Ancient will certainly make his presence felt…”
We can’t really argue with that! You will have to get him into close combat to take advantage of that powerful punch of his. But there’s another ability that you don’t want to skimp on using:
Nothing like a big banner to inspire your warriors to fight to the bitter end, right? These Primaris Ancients are always fun to have around your troopers, especially ones that are likely to get killed by the enemy.
How many more Primaris Space Marines do you think are on the way in 2022?
