Warhammer 40K RUMORS: New Space Marine Latest
A new year is upon us and that can only mean new Space Marine rumors are out and about. Take a look.
Yes it only sems like least year that we saw over a dozen back to back Marine book releases, and months and months of non-stop marine action. We’ve had a new edition since then and all those other “target codexes”, umm I mean non-marine codexes have had their time in the sun. Some like the Drukhari are downright mean!
But like the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, Space Marine rumors always return.
Here’s the latest:
rumors vis Chapter Master Valrak over on B&C
-New versions of the Chapter Supplements (Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, Ultramarines, etc)
-New long-range, high-damage, Primaris infantry unit. Squad armed with Missile Launchers.
-New “Heavy” Primaris Dreadnought. Armed with a more powerful close combat weapon and Meltas.
Space Marine Rumor Thoughts
I chalk these up in the “highly probably, and thoroughly expected” category. Let’s take these in turn.
We already have a new sexy 9th Edition codex, and all the Standalone codexes are up to date. Getting all those 8th Edition Supplementals updates was only a matter of time. This would give GW 6 codexes they can redo and release in short order like last time:
- Imperial Fists
- Salamanders
- Ultramarines
- Iron Hands
- Raven Guard
- White Scars
A new long-ranged high-damage Primaris unit is one of the few holes in the Primaris lineup – anti “big stuff” infantry. The arrival of these will finally put all those Classic Devastators and Centurions out to pasture. Note the mention of “Hellfuries” in the Ultramarines Supplemental codex (p.10). There is also this GW rumor engine image from October to ponder alongside this rumor:
As for a new Primaris Dreadnought – well that is only a matter of time. They still only have the Redemptor, while the Classic Marines have four.
What’s NOT In the Rumors
People of course will be quite anxious about anything Astartes, so let’s take a look at what ISN’T in the Space Marine rumors.
- There is NO timeframe. If true, this all could happen at the end of 9th Edition.
- There is NO new base codex described. This sounds in a way kind of like the additions we saw around Shadowspear midway through 8th to expand the Primaris line.
