Warhammer 40K: T’au Railguns Are Getting An Upgrade In The New Codex
Guess who’s getting a big boost to their heavy hitting Railguns! The T’au are going to be popping armor all day long with the next codex.
Did you think that the T’au Empire Railguns were a bit lackluster in the current version? Well so did games workshop because they just got a massive boost. Get ready for some magnetically charged death from downtown with these new versions coming very soon.
“Popular with proponents of both the Mont’ka and Kauyon philosophies, rail weapons use magnetic fields to fire metal slugs at very high velocity, punching through armour like paper. And in the upcoming Codex: T’au Empire, they’ve had a considerable upgrade.”
Yikes! They still have a range that screams board-wide threat. They still have the single shot – but wow is it a doozy! It’s Strength 14 with a -6 AP and it does D3+6 damage. That’s an incredible profile. But it doesn’t stop there. Check out the ability!
Not only is it bypassing Invulnerable saves, it’s also causing an additional 3 mortal wounds just for wounding. Frankly, I don’t know how you avoid taking damage from this thing. That’s kind of the point. Guess who just jumped up on the threat level a few steps:
Now, the one thing that doesn’t completely break this gun is the fact that it’s only got a single shot. Too bad the T’au don’t have a way to make it more accurate…oh wait. It’s T’au.
You can pair that ability with those pesky markerlights. That should greatly increase the T’au ability to reach out and touch their targets with very accurate fire. Still, it’s a single shot and it’s going to be way less effective against mass infantry, right? They have a back-up plan for that.
Yep — Hammerheads and Railguns have that covered, too. Here’s the real kicker though:
“The railgun is not the only big hitter getting a major update in the new Codex: T’au Empire – would you believe it isn’t even the strongest weapon in their arsenal?”
Oh boy. What do you suppose their BIGGEST hitter will be now? If it can top Strength 14 with -6 AP, it might be time to find some better cover…
Don’t get spotted. You’re going to have a bad day when the railguns are around.
