Okay…this new Rumor Engine is a weird one. You might want to check to see if this one is leaving some tracks.

Games Workshop has a new Rumor Engine out today and it’s a strange one. It’s probably best if you take a look for yourself before we start theorizing.

“Having had plenty of rest and with the allure of a new year still fresh in the mind, the Rumour Engine is champing at the bit to send us glimpses of the wild future of Warhammer. It’s still… less than perfect with its accuracy, but with teases like these, who can complain?”

Again, this is a strange one, right? So what are we looking at? At first I thought it could be a door or wall of some kind. But looking at the bottom of the image you can see what appear to be some sort of track sections.

It also looks pretty worn and corroded based on the paint job. You can see the painter took some extra time to add the grime leaking out. Plus there is quite a bit of paint chipping, too. It’s a pretty cool effect and it’s a shame this one is in black and white. I’d really like to see the color image for this one.

So what could this one be? Well, I think we can rule out most of the Xenos Armies for this one. It’s got some text on the top right that indicates it’s of Imperial origin. Guard perhaps? It could be Adeptus Mechanicus or Space Marine as well. Then again, it looks a little worn for your typical GW paint schemes for either of those two factions. Most Space Marine kits from GW have that “fresh off the assembly line” look. Same with most Adeptus Mechanicus kits.

Could this be something that has been corrupted by chaos? It would kind of fit — it’s Imperial but worn. Could this have something to do with those Tendrils we’ve been seeing? Are we about to have some Dark Mechanicus or Traitor Guard?!

It’s not like GW isn’t almost there already or anything!

What do you think? Are we looking at some Traitor Guard/Dark Mechanicus or something else entirely?
