LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Controversy
There have been some concerns with this game due to how TT Games is handling the release date. Programmers have complained about crunch, with some saying they’ve worked 12 hour days 7 days straight for months for the company.
Players have called for a boycott, but one programmer is saying that’s not the best way to help. Jacob Mills, a former TT Games employee, Tweeted:
“There are many incredible people still in the trenches at TT and they do pay sales-based bonuses, so [I don’t know], maybe don’t boycott the game, don’t make all those blood sweat, and tears count for nothing huh. These problems are industry-wide, and require industry-wide solutions.”
It’s your choice on how you want to handle this– the use of crunch in the video games industry is systemic and something has to be done. At the same time, supporting programmers and designers is important. What are your thoughts on this conundrum?
