‘Moonfall’ Trailer is All About Conspiracies – and Bagels
In Roland Emmerich’s Moonfall, the end of the world comes with free bagels.
A blob-shaped space terror attacks a group of astronauts in the first scene of Moonfall. When the survivors make it back to Earth they have to convince those in power that the moon is no longer where it should be and the start of the end of the world is coming.
The movie is definitely self-aware. Emmerich is really balancing on that hair-thin line between bad-bad and bad-good with this. It looks like a lot of big action and dumb fun, either way. I’m in.
Moonfall Official Synopsis
In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler is convinced she has the key to saving us all – but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman believes her. These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.
Director Roland Emmerich’s resume includes both Independence Day movies, and bad movie gems like 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, White House Down, and 1998’s Godzilla.
Moonfall‘s cast is led by Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, and John Bradley. It also includes Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, and Donald Sutherland. Director Roland Emmerich also wrote the script with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen.
‘Moonfall’ hits theaters on February 4, 2022.
