Warhammer 40K: Avatar of Khaine Gets Retired… For Now
The once mighty Avatar of Khaine model is getting retired from 40k. I wonder what will replace him?
One of the most iconic and metal models of all time is finally getting retired. The Avatar of Khaine is going away after a whopping 28 years of service on the tabletop. He’s had a great run but it’s time to say goodbye to this Aeldari mainstay. For now.
“This magnificent specimen, designed and sculpted by Warhammer legend and Aeldari artist supreme Jes Goodwin, first roared into life back in the heady days of 1993, when bases were green and flocked, and all the best models were made of metal.”
Retirement? More Like A Replacement
If you watched the video, well, you know that the cat is out of the bag. The Avatar of Khaine isn’t exactly going away entirely. This old model is but there’s a new one on the horizon.
Yeah. That’s gonna be an awesome kit! I can’t wait to see it in person.
This isn’t even the first time the Avatar of Khaine has been updated either. The very first version of the Avatar of Khaine had a spear and was actually about the size of a regular eldar model:
Then there was the Warhammer Epic 40,000 version that was larger than Guardians on bases, but maybe not quite the size of a Titan:
But the newest version is probably taking a few cues from the Forge World Avatar which is a great idea.
The Avatar model might be retiring but that just makes room for a new model that is about to get one heck of a “Glow-up” for 40k!
28 years? It’s about time!
