Age of Sigmar: Idoneth Deepkin Leviadons Can Become Battleline In The New Battletome
Get ready to bring the beef (or whatever the seafood equivalent is) to the tabletop with the new options for Leviadons!
According to the most recent roadmap from Games Workshop, the Idoneth Deepkin are about due for a new Battletome very soon. That’s good news for these salty-dogs of the sea. And even better news if you want to run those war turtles better known as Leviadons! With their new book there’s the option to make them Battleline units.
“Nautilar is a moving city built atop a vast sea-beast – a living situation that gives these nomadic Idoneth a great appreciation for the titans of the depths. If your army belongs to the Nautilar Enclave, you’ll be able to field Akhelian Leviadons as Battleline units – because the only thing better than one Leviadon is a whole bale of them. It’s a very cool new way to build an army – in fact, an enterprising Soulraid could cram as many as three of these not-so-gentle giants into a 2,000-point list.”
If you’ve never played a game against these giant sea turtles of doom then you might not know the sheer power they contain in those chompy jaws of theirs. The can snap most foes in two with handful (or maybe mouthful?) of attacks.
Regardless, they got a buff a while back and those changes are probably going to be rolled into the new book anyhow. The point is these war turtles are about to Blastoise it up on the tabletop and you can run up to 3 of them in a 2000 point list and still have some room to actually fit other units to take objectives!
On The Shoulders Of Giants
The Nautilar are getting their own allegiance ability that gives them a unique Monstrous Rampage. Crushing Assault converts the Leviadon’s regular Rend on their Massive Scythed Fins and Crushing Jaws to -3! That’s more than enough to cut through most units in the game. That should really spike that damage output for these war turtles — and that’s before their crew even attack.
That’s just the start of the IDK previews, too. You can bet more will be on the way from GW as we get closer to that vague “winter” release date.
Looks like Chompy is getting an upgrade.
