But it’s not just PC getting a chance to tread old ground. PC and Consoles, according to the devs. We don’t know exactly when the release is set for yet, but details will surely be forthcoming soon.
In the meantime, let’s take a look at the trailer. Get ready to bask in the polygons of the PS2 glory days. Truly, that was a golden age.
Dark Alliance 2‘s Troubled History
Funnily enough, there was a time that Dark Alliance 2 almost wasn’t. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 was officially announced in 2003, but the developers allegedly didn’t have permission to use the Dark Alliance engine, originally developed by Snowblind Studios.
In November 2003, Snowblind Studios filed a lawsuit against interplay, alleging that the developers used the game engine in several games without their permission, including the GameCube version of Dark Alliance, its sequel, and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. And though the lawsuit was eventually settled, it meant that Dark Alliance 2 had a stormy initial release.
But in spite of all of that, the game launched. And players loved it. With hack and slash gameplay that built on the sequel that came before, it was a go-to melee-er for quite a while. Fans are excited to see the title’s return, with Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 2 on PC and modern consoles, it may bring back the old beat-em-up days. Or at least, give gamers a chance to reminisce.
Happy Adventuring!
