D&D: Looks Like ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ Next Big Patch Is Coming Soon
According to a recent post from Larian Studios overseas, Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Next Big Patch “and more surprises” are coming later this month.
Good news for all you Baldur’s Gate 3 fans out there. It looks like Baldur’s Gate 3‘s next big patch is coming in February. According to a post spotted on Bilibili, from Larian’s Malaysian studio, Baldur’s Gate 3 has big plans for February.
A helpful Redditor has roughly translated the post:
“BG3 will have a new update in February and more surprises waiting for you guys to discover.”
It’s been about four months since Baldur’s Gate 3, Patch 6. That patch introduced the Sorcerer and wieldable salami alongside the Grymforge. With such a long time between the two patches, fans are wondering if the new patch will be substantial as well.
There are still plenty of other classes waiting in the wings. Paladins, Barbarians, Monks, and Bards have yet to be added. On top of that, players still aren’t able to play as Dragonborn, Gnomes, or Half-Orcs yet. So there’s plenty of stuff waiting in the wings– though Larian has said they want to roll out big surprises with the eventual full release of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Personally, it feels like Bard or Paladin are the likeliest ones. The two combine spellcasting and melee but also use existing elements that are already in the game.
Clerics prepare spells like Paladins. Bards and Sorcerers use the same kind of spell system. So in terms of mechanical overlap, that feels pretty easy. But who knows how difficult programming all of that is.
At any rate, the Bilibili post comes before any confirmation on English-language social media. But perhaps Larian Studios will have another announcement later this week as we get closer.
Will there be another Panel From Hell? Will we get to see another location? We’ll have to wait and find out.
In the meantime check out Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam
