Kickstarter Round-Up: Movie Monsters, Vampire Hunter D, and a Desktop Lathe
Come check out this week’s batch of Kickstarter and crowdfunding highlights!
Monsters & the Things That Destroy Them
Monsters is as portable and easy-to-learn as Love Letter and Coup. It features bluffing and strategic planning. Players with creativity and deductive reasoning will love it. There’s multiple unique sets/cycles of the game, so once you know the rules for one set, you know the rules for all the sets. The game plays best with 2 or 3 players, but supports up to 4 players.
Pledges start at $15 for a set.
Knights of Lazarus – Mothership RPG
Knights of Lazarus presents a puzzle, unsolvable the first time through. The crew must discover the best tactics to combat specialized enemies, roleplay through encounters, and choose whether to retreat or push their luck through the dungeon, The Ship Canterbury. Will your crew plan a heist? Or take the oath to join the Knights themselves? Whatever the choice the crew will discover the secrets of the order and the dangers of testing their boundaries.
The Knights of Lazarus is written as a recurring faction for ongoing interactions after the dungeon crawling. Simple rule changes allow for variability for one-shot play and a stand-alone campaign setting. Made for use with the Mothership RPG system and easily adapted to any OSR system or sci-fi setting.
Pledges start at $8 for a PDF.
LathePro
Have you ever dreamed of a machine that could set your creativity free with the power to do it all? With LathePro, a modular versatile desktop lathe machine specially designed for home DIY and maintenance projects, you can do it all. It’s a true multi-process machine, whether you’re drilling, grinding, sawing, milling wood, metal, or engineering plastics, it will perform like a Pro.

The system and setting are designed to be simple and easy to pick up. Freely add on to your favorite system/setting or play as a standalone game. This is the debut crowdfunding and publishing endeavor by Raphael Falk and GamesGarden games. The finished product will be an A5 sized black and white 48 page zine (including covers).
Pledges start at $10 for a PDF.
Vampire Hunter D: Message from Mars

Ostia
In 103 A.D., Emperor Trajan built a new expansion port called Ostia Portus, which was the most important port in Rome. This port’s most important role was to relay supplies of food to inland Rome, a huge city with a population of over a million people that was almost entirely dependent on imported grain from Egypt and Sicily for their needs.
You take the role of the owner of a huge fleet of ships, where many merchants and nobles flock into the port of Ostia to charter your ships. Use the money and resources you have gained from chartering your ships to expand your enterprise. The one who gains the most fame will be blessed with victory by the glorious Rome’s Senate and citizens!
Pledges start at $63 for the core game.
