Amazon’s new Lord of the Ring series reveals the hands of more than 20 characters– but no faces. Check out the new Rings of Power posters.

The Rings of Power news has been pretty slim. The production has revealed a few details, like that the story will take place in the Second Age. We’ve seen the new show’s logo and we’ve got a list of cast members– but we don’t know what characters they’ll be playing.

But we know what their character’s hands look like! Thanks to a bunch of new promotional posters, we’ve got glimpses of costumes, characters, and weapons for our cast.

Possibly the most lovable pair of hands looks like it belongs to a race similar to the Halflings? We’ve also got a scroll written in a language that looks a little like Dwarvish. And a mysterious archer in need of a good hand-washing.

A few of the posters included some strong sunshine imagery, including this hilt and armor (far left) and these adorned robes (far right.) Plus, there are more dirty hands holding a very shiny apple.

We’ve also got a featured ring held by someone toting a rope. There are also white blossoms, possibly from a tree? The Tolkienverse is big on trees. Plus, a book! Because reading is fundamental.

The image description posted on twitter for this first poster refers to the tool in these hands as a farming tool of some sort. There’s also a pair of very tiny hands holding onto some very large, juicy berries. Also, we have a pair of hands not holding anything except for a shawl.

The intricate likely Elven armor paired with a gold and silver sword hails from more well-known Tolkien lore. The hilt is two trees intertwined, one silver and one gold. The ancient trees are likely Laurelin and Telperion, which gave light to the land before the sun and moon came to be.

There’s also a character holding a sickle, something we haven’t really seen before in Tolkien’s universe. But it’s held by someone with nicer robes than your average farmer. The posters also feature a blade that is broken, but probably not the blade that was broken. Right? Checking timeline…

In another poster, hands surrounded by a fine set of robes hold a scroll written in the language of the Elves. Meanwhile, the hands draped and adorned with gold likely belong to Ar-Pharazôn the Golden, last king of Númenór. Not to be outdone by gold rings, still another poster features a ring along with a staff with a golden tower. This could possibly be held by Elendil, or someone associated with him.

The poster with a sword and a horse-hilt certainly gives us some Rohirim vibes, even though this is before the time of Rohan. But the ginger-bearded, gold-dusted hands draped over a mighty hammer are almost certainly Dwarvish.

And the hands on the far right have no tools in them either. But the eight-pointed stars on this robe could signify the House of Fëanor, an Elven house that fell from grace in the First Age. One of their descendants, Celebrimbor, helped Sauron craft the rings. Whoever this character is, they’re probably pretty important.

And finally, a pair of gold-dusted hands wearing fine gold robes. Finally, a big, scary, stabby gauntlet that belongs to either Sauron, one of his officers, or a very devoted goth with a love for fashion gloves.

Do you have any theories about these Rings of Power posters?
