MTG: Zangief Piledrives Into A New Secret Lair Street Fighter Preview
In a new Secret Lair drop we’ll get Street Fighter crashing headlong with MTG. Zangief leads the charge in a new preview.
First off–we know that’s Chun Li on the cover. Street Fighter is an expansive world with a mythos all its own. It’s a world where a martial arts fighting tournament features heavily into criminal conspiracies. And where one Bison Dollar equals five British pounds, because that was the exchange rate the Bank of England set once M. Bison kidnapped their queen.
All that to say, it makes a weird kind of sense as a Magic set. Because weird plots are a staple of Magic: the Gathering as well. And in Streetfighter x MTG, Zangief is at the heart of a new preview. The MTG version of Zangief comes from Justin Wong, who previewed the card on Twitter.

And here we see that in MTG, Zangief is still doing what Zangief does best: wrestling anyone and everyone.
Including bears.
Zangief is far from the only Street Fighter to make an appearance. But it’s great for the motherland that he be the one to piledrive into frame. While the official drop is still a ways out, that just means there’s still plenty of time to go cue up Guile’s Theme. It goes with everything.
