Star Wars: The Crime Syndicates You Should Know
Star Wars is full of criminal operations and crime syndicates. These are the ones you should know as the end of Book of Boba Fett approaches.
As we approach the end of The Book of Boba Fett, it’s becoming clear that Boba’s problems aren’t Tatooine-based but galactic. Multiple crime syndicates are all vying for the territory previously controlled by Jabba the Hutt.
But Who are the biggest players in the Star Wars criminal underworld? This is the who’s who of the galactic crime syndicates.
The Hutt Clan
Made up of a number of Hutt families and sub-groups, the Hutt Clan is one of the most well known Syndicates in the Galaxy. The groups are governed by the Grand Hutt Council of elder Hutts located back on their home planet of Nal Hutta.
Hutt influence grew during the Clone Wars, as peace in the galaxy is generally bad for Hutt business. But during the chaos of war their territory expanded and their power grew. After Jabba’s death, the Hutt Clan’s influence saw a period of decline and other organizations moved to fill the power vacuum.
Crimson Dawn
Run by former Sith Lord, Maul and then Han Solo’s one time girlfriend, Qi’ra, Crimson Dawn is one of the most influential crime syndicates in Star Wars. It is also a syndicate known for its ruthlessness.
Under Qi’ra’s control Crimson Dawn was primarily used to destabilize the Imperial government. Her goal was the complete removal of Emperor Palpatine from power. Ultimately, they failed at this goal, but not without shaking a few things up first.
Black Sun
This group came into prominence during The Clone Wars. Lead by a group of Faleen Nobels from their fortress on Mustafar, they were part of the Shadow Collective along with the Pykes, Crimson Dawn, Nite Owls, Hutts, Mando Commandos, and Nightbrothers.
It was briefly proposed that Black Sun merge with the Pyke Syndicate. But this ended with kidnapped family members and hired bounty hunters.
Pyke Syndicate
The Pyke Syndicate are such huge players in the Spice Cartel that they are practically synonymous with spice in the galaxy. In fact, they were singularly responsible for the flow of spice from Kessel to Coruscant.
At this point in the story, the Pykes are aiming to take over Jabba’s previously held territory on Tatooine. But they have also been involved in the crime raids on Mandalore that began Death Watch’s rule of the planet. Their alliances with both Black Sun and Crimson Dawn have been tentative, to say the least, but the Pykes have always been rightfully feared.
Which galactic Crime Syndicate is your favorite? Do you think Black Sun or Crimson Dawn will make an appearance by the end of the season? Who do you think will win control of Jabba’s old territory? Let us know in the comments.
