Total War: Warhammer 3 – Corruption Makes The World Go ‘Round
Total War: Warhammer 3’s Corruption mechanic makes the world a… well not better place. But it changes things. Here’s a look at how.
Total War: Warhammer 3 has a major overhaul to many campaign mechanics. Siege battles and factions are just one part of it. But one of the biggest changes comes to Total War: Warhammer 3’s corruption mechanic. Now this mechanic influences your individual provinces and helps determine which Chaos god is waxing powerful at any given moment. It has dire portents depending on what faction you’re playing. You can find an in-depth look below:
In a nutshell, each of the Chaos gods gets its own flavor of corruption. And depending on what faction you’re playing, this could be good or bad for you. Take a look at Tzeentch’s corruption:
As it grows, all non-Chaos armies start to lose their strength. But if you’re a Chaos-worshipping army, which could be Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, or Chaos Undivided, you gain benefits instead. These corruption points balance each other out, as you can see. Some wax and some wane. As a Chaos player, you’ll want to spread corruption to the furthest reaches of the world. As a player of any other faction, you’ll want to try and stymie corruption at all costs.
Though, again, as Chaos corruption grows, the likelihood of a special Chaos realm/rift opening up grows. So. Like all things, balance is helpful.
