They did alright in the Underworlds; how much more challenging could the Eightpoints be?

Warcry fans rejoice; the long-awaited Tome of Champions 2021 is on its way at last. Alongside exciting new narrative missions and quest rewards, the new book promises to bring the warbands of the Underworlds to the battlefields of Chaos. Every faction is sending their best (or perhaps most expendable) forces deep into Archaon’s realm to steal some of the coveted Varanite and cause a little mayhem on the way. As a massive fan of Warcry and a casual lover of Underworlds, I’m stoked to get some of my push-fit pugilists into the thick of war. Here are the four Underworlds warbands, one from each faction, that I’m most excited to field.

Death: The Crimson Court

Starting off the incredible lineup, we have to go with the warband made of gold, the Soulblight Gravelords of the Crimson Court. Every one of these Vampire Lords is like a warband in their own right, and I can’t wait to see how they interact with the skirmish warfare of Warcry. We got to see a small preview of how they’ll function with the reveal of Prince Duvaille’s warscroll card. If the rest are anything like him, they’ll be a force to be reckoned with for sure. Special mention has to go to Gorath the Enforcer, who will be putting the hurt on the unsuspecting warriors of the North with that massive greatmace.

Destruction: Hedkrakka’s Madmob

For Destruction, I don’t think any force fits the wild warfare of the Eightpoints better than the Bonesplitterz squad. They abandon armor in favor of faith, fight with reckless abandon, and don’t hesitate to resort to underhanded tactics to win. I’m sure several unsuspecting warbands have mistaken them for Untamed Beasts from far away, only to get poisoned by Hedkrakka’s venomous pets. I can’t wait to see how their shenanigans translate to the rules of Warcry.

Order: Morgwaeth’s Blade-Coven

Like the Bonesplitterz, the Blade-Coven are ideally suited for fighting in the pits of the Eightpoints. They already fight like gladiators, and their Khainite abilities will serve them well as they harvest more Varanite for their fractured Queen. Morgwaeth herself will probably be an incredible force multiplier, and even as an attached hero, she’ll more than pull her weight on the battlefield.

Chaos: Godsworn Hunt

I started with Warcry way back when it initially dropped and immediately fell in love with the Untamed Beasts. For me, the Godsworn Hunt are the perfect companion force for them, complete with light armor, wicked-looking weaponry, and an animal companion. However, with the release of the new Darkoath faction, these warriors will almost certainly be spoiled for choice. Whether they stay with their native faction or give in to their more wild impulses, there’s no doubt this warband will be one to watch.

What faction are you most excited about?
