Warhammer 40K: Codex Aeldari Has All The Crusade Rules
If you were looking to start a new Aeldari Army the upcoming codex has rules for a great narrative way to build it. Bring on the crusade!
The Aeldari are all about walking the Asuryani Paths and with the new Crusade Rules in the codex you can do just that. You’ll be able to build up your army and forge their own narrative. Plus, the book will also have rules for Ynnari and Harlequin Crusades, too.
“The Craftworld Aeldari walk the Asuryani Paths, rigid lifestyle codes that temper their powerful emotions and allow them to focus on excellence – martial, psychic, or otherwise. When embarking on a Crusade campaign, certain Aeldari units can choose to travel three of these Paths – the Warrior, the Seer, and the Outcast.”
Choose Your Path
The path we’re going to look at is the Warrior.
If you can stick to the path it can provide your unit with some nice boosts. The ability to re-roll 1s to hit and wound is great for this army. Once those on the Path of the Warrior get to the end, they even get an additional Exarch Power.
Again, there are more paths to choose from but this should give you an idea of what they can do. They can be powerful boons to your units and you can also swap between paths. However, once you reach the final step, you’re locked in for good.
Ynnari Soul Power
The Ynnari are getting their own Crusade Rules in the book as well. Part of their rules involve the use of Soul points. You can use those to spend them on Soul Bonds — so of which can be quite potent!
Oh and these Soul Bonds don’t overwrite your Path options, either. It’s a just a cherry on top of your Aeldari Rules Cake!
“These Soul Bonds are earned in addition to any Paths walked by your units, so they’re a great way to inject some extra Ynnari flavour into your Crusade army.”
How About The Harlequins?
These Killer Clowns From Outer Space aren’t messing around. They are bringing their Grand Performances to the tabletop in a deadly manner.
“Once you’ve picked which Grand Performances you’ll be taking on tour, it’s time to make some preparations. The Harlequins have a uniquely deadly approach to theatre, and it’s no surprise that their tale of the Trials of Khaine involves some rather murderous rehearsals.”
Yep, that’s right — the Harlequins are holding Rehearsals before the big show. Realistically, these are just the different steps your units are taking before they get to the rewards. It’s very thematic when you think about it! Once rehearsals are over then you’ll get to start your Grand Performance:
If you’re show goes well, you’ll get to reap those rewards, too:
It’s a pretty cool Crusade system and the Harlequins version is also very dramatic. It might be handy to keep them around to put on that show in your army.
Codex Aeldari is up for Pre-Orders this weekend!
