Age of Sigmar: Idoneth Deepkin Battletome First Impressions
We got our hands on the new Idoneth Deepkin Battletome and have some first impressions to share.
The Idoneth Deepkin are getting a new Battletome and they’ve got some potential to cause some problems for any ranged armies — and also everyone else!
Battletome First Impressions
For these fishy fighters the main thing to take away from this book is that the Idoneth Deepkin are just going to be better than before. All of the stuff that was good before stayed the same or became even more useful. For example the rituals are even easier to use and have more utility than before. Furthermore, a bunch of abilities that were unique to specific models got moved around to more generally useful spots.
Now, with the right trait, any Isharann can flip the tides!
One more trend we’re continuing to see is that the Battletome Sub-Factions are getting simplified and toned down a bit. Ionrach, as an example, now just has a Heroic Action to use. Functionally, you should be able to do a lot of what you could do before. However it does feel like a loss of character for the individual Sub-factions.
With that said, the army is still going to be in a good spot overall. The IDK battletome is rock solid and previous players should be just fine with the new changes (and maybe even better off than before). One downside is that the army might feel a little more elite — and more like an Aelf army. So you might not have quite as many models on the table. But the ones that are there are going to put up one heck of a fight!
