The new Isharann Rituals are under the spotlight for the Idoneth Deepkin. Get ready for more control over the Ethersea!

When it comes to the Idoneth Deepkin there’s essentially two noble castes that rule their soul-pirate society. There’s the Akhelians who are the warrior caste and then there’s the Isharann. They are the mages and wizards of the Deepkin. They wield the magics of the Ethersea and bring those abilities to battle.

Today, we’re looking at the benefit of bringing the Isharann side of the house along for the battle. They have some nifty benefits for your forces from the deep.

“Any Idoneth Deepkin army can benefit from the Tides of Death – army-wide bonuses that shift with each battle round as the ethersea ebbs and flows – but Isharann Rituals will really let you ride the waves. If your army includes any ISHARANN units, at the start of the first battle round you can choose from one of four rituals to influence the ethersea.”

So let’s take a look at an example of these rituals in action:

How this works is that you’ll pick the Isharann Ritual at the start of the first battle round. Then, when the corresponding Tide of Death turn hits the ritual takes effect. In this case all of the effects would trigger during the second battle round. So not only would Flood Tide kick off but you’d also get the benefits of Ritual of the Surging Stream.

Here’s another example with the Ebb Tide and Ritual of the Spiteful Riptide. It triggers on the fourth battle round — which is kind of late in the game. That said it still pairs very nicely with the Tides of Death ability. Causing mortal wounds is always helpful. Those extra bits of damage just might be enough to mop up a unit and then clear the lane to charge again.

“The new battletome contains even more seafaring shenanigans for these ethersea arcanists – not just the other two rituals, but also new Isharann Command Traits. Plus, there’s a tide-changing allegiance ability for Ionrach – the enclave of High King Volturnos himself.”
