Heroes of Krynn, a new Unearthed Arcana from Wizards of the Coast, teases a return to the world of Dragonlance.

Wizards of the Coast unveiled a new Unearthed Arcana earlier today. Titled Heroes of Krynn, the new Unearthed Arcana suggests that soon enough we’ll be getting a book set in the world of Dragonlance.

This particular Unearthed Arcana contains a wealth of player-centric information, including a new race, a new subclass, two new backgrounds, and a host of feats. All of which is bundled up with enough nuggets of lore that give readers an inroad into adventuring in Krynn.

Heroes of Krynn – New Race

Let’s start with the thing that is sure to get everyone excited. Kenders are back, baybee. These sticky-fingered not-halflings are notorious at the D&D table. Depending on what edition you played them in, they were either the bane of existence for the DM or the rest of the players. If you did it right, maybe even both. But these diminutive folk were much beloved by a wizened and powerful old man, who turned out to not actually be human.

No wait. This powerful old man that has a love for playful folk who are big in spirit, if not in stature.

He’s actually a dragon, not a Maiar. That’s how they’re different. Anyway, Kender are a new playable race. And this time they seem to have solved the “Kenders accidentally steal everything” problem with a feature Kender Ace that lets you pull an assortment of item from out of your bag a few times per day.

They also have a supernatural ability to get on everyone’s nerves, no really, with an ability called Taunt. This lets Kenders use a bonus action fluster a creature, giving them disadvantage on all attack rolls until the start of the Kenders next turn, if they fail a Wisdom saving throw.

But Wait There’s More

There’s so much more to this Unearthed Arcana than just the Kender, though. They also introduce the different “Robes of Magic” – white, red, and black, as well as the concept of Lunar Magic, High Sorcery, and more.

We’ll be taking a closer look at the new subclass, the Lunar Magic Sorcerer, as well as the two new backgrounds that come bundled with a feat–a move that many hope will be the new way backgrounds work in D&D 2024 Edition.

At any rate, check back soon for more about the other new player options.

In the meantime, it seems like soon enough we’ll see a big setting book set in Krynn. The November book is going to be interesting, to be certain.
