Meet Shaggy Rogers Irvan Wastewalker, a twelve hit-die brawler who’s surprisingly good at knives, in a new Netherdeep preview.

Also, be sure and stick around to check out the Sorrow Fish. First things first though, feast your eyes upon an elder-god made flesh. Probably. Maybe. Another member of the Rival Adventuring Party out of Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep has been revealed in a new preview. This time it’s Irvan Wastewalker, who bears a striking resemblance to one Norville ‘Shaggy’ Rogers.

Don’t see it? Here take a look at this real, canonical image of Shaggy:

At any rate, eldritch god resemblance aside, Irvan Wastewalker is a tough cookie, as revealed in his tier 1 stat block. With twelve hit dice, each a d12, our friend here has an absolute mess of hit points.

Netherdeep Preview: Irvan Wastewalker Stats

Meet Irvan Wastewalker: a man who isn’t afraid to take a hit, but is constantly beating himself up. Irvan Wastewalker walks in the shadow of both the family he abandoned and a past life that haunts his memories.

With 66 hit points, Irvan has the most of them all. And he has the ability to stay fighting even when he would drop to 0 hit points. All of this working together means that Irvan can take a licking and keep on ticking.

From the surface of it, he seems to be almost like a barbarian. The signature d12 hit die, some surprising resilience too. Except he fights with daggers, either thrown or in melee. He’s not strong, but he is agile. So Irvan’s probably good at sprinting and standing up too. But this isn’t even his final form. We’ll have to wait for Critical Role: Call of the Netherdeep to see for sure.

In the meantime, though, check out the Sorrow Fish.

Sorrow Fish

These swarming fish look like they’ve got sharp teeth, and likely surround their targets, piranha style.

Once again, we get a look at the blood and potential corruption of the Netherdeep. The flavor text teasing these monsters specifically teases the Abyss, though that might not mean the Abyss, home to demons in D&D.

Between these and the razorfin and the corrupted shark, it looks like seafood isn’t on the menu, but rather the other way around.

Happy Adventuring!
