‘Dune: Part 2’ Casting – Florence Pugh Tapped for Princess Irulan
Dune: Part 2 casting has kicked off with some great news.
Reports are saying the Midsommar and Black Widow actor is in talks to join Dune in a central role – Princess Irulan. I think she’s a great pick and will fit into the current cast seamlessly. She has the acting chops and she’s gorgeous with a steely edge that Irulan needs.
The actor is busy these days. She’s filming Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer in New Mexico right now. A lot of her casting is going to come down to timing – Dune: Part 2 filming starts this summer. According to the Hollywood Reporter:
Pugh is being courted to play Princess Irulan, the daughter of the Emperor. Several obstacles remain, however, for any deal. The script is still being written, and thus the actress is said to be waiting for the latest draft. Also, scheduling poses another hurdle. Legendary is hoping to begin shooting this summer, but Pugh is also in contention for the Madonna biopic, and it is unclear when that would go, should she nab that lead role.
I really hope this works out.
Dune: Part 2 – More Casting
The princess isn’t the only character up for grabs. Emperor Shaddam IV, Alia, and Feyd-Rautha (I vote Valter Skarsgård just because) are also looking for actors to play them on screen. I’m sure Casing directors Francine Maisler and Jina Jay have names in mind for all of them. The pair’s work on part one was spectacular.
The fan casting began when the project was announced back in 2016. My more serious list:
- Emperor Shaddam IV – Charles Dance
- Princess Irulan (backup) – Saoirsa Ronan
- Alia – Brooklynn Prince
- Feyd-Rautha – Barry Keoghan
