‘Fortnite’ Removes Building Mechanic – Here’s What Fans Think
With the latest season, Fortnite has removed building as one of the game’s core mechanics. But fans are loving the change.
Ever since its inception as a zombie horde survival video game, Fortnite has allowed players to build their own defenses. But the latest change to the game has removed the iconic mechanic.
Fortnite‘s building loss change is temporary and only removed from the normal game mode for the latest season. It still exists in Competitive, Arena, Creative, and Team Rumble. However, some fans are calling for the change to be added as a permanent play mode.
Fan Reception
Fortnite stars like Ninja are saying the change is the best thing for the game. While according to some leaks the change will only remain until Tuesday, March 29th.
But with such strong positive reception, will Epic keep the option available after this proposed end date? Plenty of fans think so.
It seems unlikely that Fortnite will ever lose building across all play modes, but an “All Battle, No Building” play mode seems like a great option for players who got tired of the “tryhard builders” that have been running rampant in the game since its release.
Removing building lets players focus on the game’s great selection of weapons and items and test their skill as a shooter and not as a click spamfest on who can build Stormveil Castle first. While Creative mode will still let players build the parkour maps which are also very popular within the game.
Whether or not the Fornite building change does find a permanent spot, it’s clear that longtime fans are eager for a major shakeup in how the game works. Overwatch has done similar things with Experimental Modes and their Arcade, so maybe Fortnite can figure out a similar solution.
Only time will tell.
