Keanu Reeves as Batman in New ‘League of Super-Pets’ Trailer
The latest League of Super-Pets trailer introduces super-dog Ace and takes aim at Batman’s perpetual moodiness.
Pets have been part of DC’s superhero comics since the 1950s with the introduction of Superman’s dog, Krypto. There have been a number of super companion animals since, with the first all super animal team up in 1962 and a return in the New 52 Universe in 2018. They’ve had their place in comics for decades. This summer they’re getting their own animated movie.
League of Super-Pets kicks the gritty DC movie formula to the curb and replaces it with lighthearted jokes and animals. Meet the newest super crime-fighting team (from left): Merton, PB, Krypto, Chip, and Ace. I’m slightly disappointed that there’s no Bat-Cow or Flexi the Plastic-Bird. The new critters do look pretty dang cute, though.
New League of Super-Pets Trailers
We got our first League of Super-Pets trailer last year at Fandome. It focuses on Krypto (Dwayne Johnson) and Superman (John Krasinski). Like their famous owners, each pet has their own set of super powers from super speed to lightening paws. Powers they’ll use on their mission to save the world’s heroes.
The latest look is running in front of The Batman – and focuses on Keanu Reeve’s take on the caped crusader. They’re not holding back on the character’s long running issues.
DC League of Super-Pets Details
In “DC League of Super-Pets,” Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.
The voice cast includes Dwayne Johnson, John Krasinski, and Keanu Reeves. As well as Kevin Hart as Batman’s dog Ace, Vanessa Bayer as Wonder Woman’s potbellied pig PB. Natasha Lyonne also stars as Merton (Flash’s turtle) and Diego Luna will play Chip, the Green Lantern’s squirrel friend. Marc Maron will voice Lex Luthor.
