MTG: New Banned And Restricted Announcement Pulls The Plug On Your Dream-Den
Lurrus of the Dream-Den is banned. See what else is gone (or back) in the latest Banned and Restricted announcement for Magic.
It couldn’t have happened to a nicer Cat Nightmare. Wizards of the Coast announced a new wave of banned and restricted MTG cards across multiple formats today. Among them, Cat Nightmare Lurrus of the Dream-Den.
This four-eyed feline has been dominating the meta since Modern Horizons 2 released. Lurrus has shown up in multiple archetypes according to data released from Wizards of the Coast, who put Lurrus’ playrate at 31% in Magic Online League decks that started with four wins.
Lurrus here is just straight up fuel for many decks’ fires. But after going through play data and community feedback Lurrus of the Dream-Den is officially banned from Modern. As well as from Pioneer. Here’s a look at the other bans.
Magic: the Gathering Banned and Restricted Cards
Pioneer:
Lurrus of the Dream-Den is banned.
Modern:
Lurrus of the Dream-Den is banned.
Pauper:
Galvanic Relay is banned
Disciple of the Vault is banned.
Expedition Map is unbanned.
Tabletop Effective Date: March 7, 2022
Magic Online effective date: March 7, 2022
Galvanic Relay and Disciple of the Vault have been hit as well. You’ll no longer find them in Pauper formats. But, good news, Expedition Map is back from the exile zone. So get ready to tutor for some of those new lands while you’re playing Pauper.
Of course, this is only the first wave in March. Doubtless we’ll see more adjustments hitting over the coming months. New Capenna is still some ways out, but before too long, WotC will have the data they need from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. In the meantime, we’ll just be wondering what comes next. Let’s turn the question over to you.
What card do you think should be next on the banning block?
