‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ First Look – Images & Teaser Show the Return of Ewan McGregor
The first look at Obi-Wan Kenobi shows Ewan McGregor watching over Luke’s life from the shadows.
Entertainment Weekly has our first look at Obi-Wan Kenobi, the highly anticipated Disney+ show that premieres on May 25th. Next week’s cover features the return of the beloved Jedi, played by Ewan McGregor. Why… hello there!
Obi-Wan Kenobi First Look
Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place ten years after Anakin’s fall. The show bridges the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. Luke has been handed to relatives on Tatooine to keep him safe from his father and the forces of the Empire. Kenobi decides to stay on the planet and to keep a watchful eye on the boy – the kid is bound to have a strong connection to the force and will need extra protection.
Obi-Wan’s exile isn’t without complications. The Empire hasn’t forgotten him. Moses Ingram plays a force force-sensitive Inquisitor on the hunt for the Jedi-in-hiding – she is an ally of Vader. Director Deborah Chow and writer Joby Harold describe Reva as ruthlessly ambitious.
The Jedi isn’t the only one protecting Luke. Joel Edgerton returns as Uncle Owen and he’s ready to put himself on the line for the boy. Director Deborah Chow had this to say about having the actor back on set: “Thank you, George, for casting Joel Edgerton as Uncle Owen. That’s all I can say.”
It sounds like we’re getting a tougher version of Owen in the show. This is not your mother’s moisture farmer.
While he has this important mission, Obi-Wan is still recovering from the loss of Anakin to the dark side. He’s questioning his Jedi faith and is on his way to giving up. The show will be as much about protecting Luke as Ob-Wan rediscovering his purpose.
