Rubicon Models Enters Into the Vietnam Conflict with New 28mm Minis
Rubicon Models makes some really great looking Word War 2 models in 28mm. Recently, they released minis of Vietnam War forces.
In this post, we quickly look at two new miniatures sets for the Vietnam war. Specifically, we have the United States Marine Core and the Viet Kong Fighters. These are 1/56 scale model figures on 25mm round bases. Basically, that means that they are the same size as 28mm wargaming miniatures on the size of bases that one would use for games like Bolt Action.
The Box Art
Below is the cover art of the two boxes.
Today’s post is just a quick one to let you know about the product. If you want a more in depth article about these figures, check out my personal site, Must Contain Minis.
What’s in a Box
I believe that these figures are the first miniatures sets built by Rubicon Models. They come well packaged. I was surprised at how much care they take to make sure that the models are all sealed up safely in the box.
Take a look at all that plastic. Those bags are sealed and I had to cut into them. This is the contents of just one of the two box sets.
Above is one of the sprues from the Viet Cong Fighters box set. The parts are nicely labelled and each box comes with a small booklet on how to build the figures. You can see more in my full Viet Cong Fighters Review.
In the USMC Marine box set, Rubicon Models gives you two different sprues. I placed one of them in the picture above. If you want to see the other, see my full review of these figures.
A Quick Look at the Miniatures
The miniatures themselves go together well and look good. Let me share with you how one of them looked after construction. A nice looking mini.
Want to know how these miniatures compare to other manufactures? I have a scale comparison image of the figures vs some Bolt Action and Warhammer 40K minis. Let’s check that out.
The USMC and Viet Cong are from these box sets.

Wrapping it up
If you haven’t checked out Rubicon Models, they make a lot of models that you can use in your historical games. For me, they started as a great option for alternative vehicles for Bolt Action. Now they expanded their line to include miniatures of the Vietnam War era.
